What is the Library Academic Support Centre?

The Library Academic Support Centre provides a professional, friendly, and free service to all students in every discipline and at every level of academic study at National College of Ireland.

We offer one-to-one and small group support, both in-person and online, that focuses on helping you to become an independent learner so you can succeed in whatever challenges you face throughout your course at NCI.

How can the Library Academic Support Centre support you?

Library Resources & Research:

  • Explain what resources are available through the library and how to access them
  • Assistance with searching for information efficiently (including bespoke search strategies for your assignment/research topic)
  • Guidance on how to carry out a literature review

Referencing & Avoiding Plagiarism:

  • Assistance with referencing and paraphrasing information
  • Guidance on avoiding plagiarism and understanding your Turnitin similarity report

Improve Your Grades:

  • Help you to understand lecturer’s feedback so you can improve on your next assignment
  • Advice on strengthening your academic writing

The Library Academic Support Centre is located on the 5th floor of the Spencer Dock building, find our office on the left as you come in.
