Ways to improve your CPD

Continuing Professional Development does not have to be time-consuming. Certain small activities can make a big difference. Below are some tips for quick and effective ways to improve your CPD:

There are many email lists and online discussion groups in your professional area. Tip: if you don't want lots of emails, set your preference so you just receive a daily digest of all the messages.

Website dedicated to the professional development of library staff, in particular library staff who have a teaching role.

Reflecting on what you do can be a really valuable CPD tool. For example, you could put your thoughts online in a blog.

Being a reviewer is a good way to contribute professionally. 

  • Use Twitter for your virtual CPD

Twitter can be a useful CPD tool.

ePortfolios allow students, educators, and other professionals, in this group to collect evidence of learning, creativity, and reflection to showcase their work and ideas. A few uses of ePortfolios in general include student galleries, collaborative projects, research presentations, documenting experiential learning, interactive resumes and even reporting on social or sporting events and student groups
