Introduction to the Library

Please note that since the making of this video there have been several changes -

- the printers/photocopiers have now moved to the front of the library

- the library now uses the Discovery search engine

- there is now further group study space available for booking just outside the library entrance

- and the Library Help Centre is now located in the middle of the library

Welcome to the Library and information service of The National College of Ireland. The library and information service  offers a wide network of access to information for users. The library specialises in the areas of Finance, Economics, Accounting, Human Resource Management, Employee Relations, Trade Union Studies, and Informatics.

Our Mission is to provide our students and users with the right information, in the right form, and at the time required; blending traditional Library services with online information sources while holding onto our essential and unique ‘user centred’ focus.

The library has holdings in excess of 50,000 books and reports. We subscribe to over 53,000 online journal titles and over 86,000 conference proceedings. The Library has 150 reading spaces for student use, a computer area with 39 p.c.s, and an assistive technology room.

This guide is designed to help you find out how to access the library; how to find a book; how to borrow books and what collections we have; how to print and photocopy and what computer access you have; how to access our online resources and use the library search engine Discovery; and how to reference. Just click on the blue tabs above to find out more about each topic.

For more information, please see our library guides below.
